The dark secret of cheap inkjet printers

The price of inkjet printers has come down in price dramatically in recent years, and that’s strange because everything else seem to be going up. You can actually buy a brand new inkjet printer for under £10! This seems like a absolute bargain but you have to ask yourself why so cheap? Well, a lot of printer manufacturers will offer their entry level and mid range printers at cost price (sometimes even a loss) in the effort to get their printer into your home or office so they can then sell you the replacement ink cartridges at twice the price of the original cost of the printer. Some people who have been sucked into this have gone to purchase replacement cartridges and end up buying a new printer because they believe that this is a cheaper way. This is not the case as the cartridges that come with a new printer contain very small amounts of ink (enough for a few pages) as well as the fact they are stuck with two printers and end up throwing one away and this is extremely damaging to the environment. So how do you make sure your don’t fall into this trap? Always check the prices of the replacement printer ink cartridges before purchasing a printer. Also check to see if compatible versions are available, these are made by third party companies and cost a lot less. A set of compatible Epson SX405 inks cost 50% less than the genuine Epson ink with very little difference in print quality. Generally compatible Epson ink cartridges are cheaper than HP or Lexmark so Epson printers are the cheapest to run.
